Federation Governing Body Minutes

Governor Attendance 2016-2017

FGB Minutes 23rd May 2017

FGB Minutes 6th March 2017

FGB Minutes 18th January 2017

FGB Minutes 15th September 2016

The Federation Governing Body (FGB) meets together at least 6 times throughout the school year. Each FGB meeting follows an agenda prepared by the Chair of Governors. Any relevant documents are circulated for governors to review and consider in advance.

Summary minutes of each meeting are prepared by our Clerk, John Pinfold. They provide an important record – summarising what was discussed, governor questions and responses, any motions proposed, votes taken and decisions reached. At each FGB the minutes of the previous meeting are shared with all governors in attendance to check for accuracy before being signed as approved by the Chair.

Impact and challenge

As well as providing a reference for governors, Federation Governing Body minutes also provide evidence to those outside the school that governors are performing their duty by holding the school to account effectively. These include inspectorates such as SIAMS (Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools), Ofsted (Office for Standards in Education, Children's Services and Skills) and Her Majesty’s Inspectors (HMI).

Acting as critical friend, an effective Governing Body should both advise and also challenge a school. In the interests of transparency, and to illustrate the role and impact of governance in general, the Federated Governing body has chosen to make recent FGB minutes available for review online. Only confidential matters or reserved business are not included.
