Meet the Governors

Prestbury St. Mary's C of E Junior School is now part of the Prestbury St Mary's Foundation.  This means that the Infant school and Prestbury St Mary's Junior School have the same governing body.

The Governing Body of the Prestbury St Mary's Foundation comprises 14 persons:  2 elected parent governors,  a  governor appointed by the Local Authority, 1 governor elected by the joint staff, the Headteacher, a co-opted staff governor from the school that the elected staff governor does not come from, the Vicar of the Parish of Prestbury by virtue of his office and 7 foundation governors appointed by the Gloucester Diocese.

The Governing Body meets at least twice a term and makes decisions about how the schools are run.  Many of the functions of the main Governing Body are delegated to committees and these meet more frequently. The Headteacher manages the day-to-day running of the schools.

Our Voluntary Aided Status means we are owned by the Church of England, and largely financed by the local authority. The Governors appoint staff and control pupil admissions and religious education. In order to maintain the privilege of delivering the whole curriculum amid a distinctive Christian ethos, the Governors are responsible for finding a financial contribution towards the improvement and repair of the school premises.
