PTFA

PTFA Events diary 2016-2017

Minutes of PTFA Meeting - September 2016

From the moment your child joins Prestbury St Mary’s Junior School, you and your family are members of the Parents, Teachers and Friends Association (PTFA).

The PTFA supports the school by raising money for activities and facilities for the children that the school would not normally have the budget to fund. From 2015 the Junior and Infant PTFAs joined forces to become one committee overseeing events for both schools. The current committee is busy planning and organising some fun and exciting events for this academic year.

Last year saw the PTFA arranging school discos, our termly Movie Magic screenings and a highly successful Summer Fair. Thanks to the PTFA, children have designed Christmas cards which have been printed and sold to parents, enjoyed discounted Everyman Theatre tickets and created lovely Mother’s Day gifts to surprise mums on their special day. Year 6 Leavers had their annual BBQ organised for them by the PTFA.

Already this year we have many exciting events planned including a second visit from Happy Circus which was such a success last time and the return of the exclusive swim night party at the Sandford Lido. In addition, this year we are planning to run a half-termly ‘Tuck Shop’ where pupils can spend some of their pocket money on well-earned treats!

Money raised previously has been allocated to buying the ICT equipment in the hall, supporting the memorable ISingPop event and kick starting the allotment project. We look forward to having another successful year of fundraising so that we may continue to provide the children with additional facilities, including a spiritual garden area, and help enhance the school environment – plans are afoot for children to work alongside a local artist in the creation of a mosaic in the school hall to represent the school’s core Christian values.

We need you!

The PTFA needs you! We are always looking for parents to get involved – be it offering ideas or sponsorship or simply volunteering for an hour to help at an event. Our group is very informal, friendly and great fun. To get in touch, please contact Louise Boulter (mum of Eleon Wightman in Year 5 and Tom in Year 3) via the Junior School or join our St Mary’s PTFA helpers Facebook group.
