Uniform and Personal Property

Although the wearing of school uniform is optional in a primary school, we believe that a uniform looks smart, wears well and contributes to a feeling of belonging to the school. For this reason we actively encourage it.

School uniform

Our school uniform colours are maroon, grey and white:

  • Shirt/ blouse - White

  • Polo Shirt - White

  • Sweatshirt/ cardigan - Maroon with logo

  • Trousers/ shorts - Tailored grey school trousers or black bootleg (no leggings or tracksuit bottoms)

  • Skirt/ pinafore - Grey, knee length

  • Socks/ tights - Grey/ black/ white (not flesh coloured)

  • Shoes - Black or brown no higher than 1”; no trainers

  • Summer Dress - Blue and white check

All clothes and shoes worn in school should be clearly marked with the child’s name.

We discourage the wearing of any jewellery, apart from watches and stud earrings, for health and safety reasons.

PE Kit

For obvious health and safety reasons, it is very important that pupils always change for P.E. sessions.

Please provide your child with suitable clothing for indoor P. E. and outdoor games. These items are kept in a bag which is stored in the pupil’s individual locker or on their peg. Children are not allowed to wear watches or earrings during PE and Games.

For PE, children will need:

  • Gym shoes (daps) for the hall
  • Trainers for outdoors
  • T-shirt – House colours:
    Willow = Blue, Maple = Yellow, Cedar = Green, Rowan = Red
  • Navy/ black shorts/ gym skirt
  • Tracksuit, jogging bottoms and warm sweatshirt for outdoor sports

Items of school uniform such as maroon ‘St Mary’s’ sweatshirts, cardigans, ‘House’ t-shirts, ties, maroon backpacks and caps are available to buy at the School Office.

Personal Property

Children should not bring valuable items to school.  We cannot take any responsibility for loss or damage. We also ask that any money which a child needs to have with them should be handed to the class teacher at registration time.   If a parent feels it is necessary for a child to bring a mobile phone to school,the phone should be handed in to the school office each morning and parents need to complete a form which can be found in the school office or click on the link below:

Please ensure all property brought to school, including clothing, is clearly marked with the child's name.
