additionArrival and Collection
New children are reminded.  Children assemble outside Mrs Hopton’s classroom in the inner courtyard where staff will greet them.  Parents collect children from the door at the front of the school on the left-hand side of the building.  Notices will be displayed if arrangements change.  Children to be collected promptly at the end of each day, parents will be asked to sign children out on collection.  Inform Manager in writing if collecting arrangements change - your child’s safety is of utmost importance.

Special Needs & Disabilities
Please share your needs with a member of staff.  Your child’s personal requirements will be treated sensitively and in confidence.

additionadditionPlay Opportunities
Every day is different!  We have a loose parts resource list, and consider landscape types and the elements.  The children choose and plan their play using consultation methods.  We are guided by Playwork Principles and follow Hughes Playtypes which means children will be experiencing or experimenting with emotions, feelings and attitudes through their play.  The playtypes used are communication, creative, deep, dramatic, exploratory, fantasy, imaginative, locomotor, mastery, object, role play, rough & tumble, social, socio-dramatic and symbolic.  When outdoors we use the main playground, inner playground, and grass areas.  During hot weather, please provide suncream and hat.  Play is also held in the main hall when available. Play means fun!

additionHealth and Safety
In cases of minor injuries, sterile dressings, pressure and cold water will be used.  In the event of a more serious accident, parental consent and doctor/hospital advice will be sought.  Inform staff of any medication your child is currently using.  Ensure your child is carrying an inhaler for asthma attacks should this be relevant.

Clothing/Personal Belongings
Children will remain in school uniform.  When paint is used aprons will be provided.  Ensure your child has taken all personal belongings home at end of each day. Named items left behind will be returned to the child the following day.  Un-named items will be placed in school’s lost property cupboard.  Personal toys/games brought from home are not permitted.

Refreshments
A Snack Bar is provided, where children make their own sandwiches and have access to cold drinks and fresh fruit.  Fresh drinking water is available at all times.  The children provide a healthy shopping list, and are aware of a balanced diet. Please inform staff of special dietry needs and food allergies.  Toilet and hand washing facilities are located next to the classroom on the ground floor, within the building.  A disabled toilet is available on the school premises.
