Prestbury St. Mary’s Junior School Parent Teacher Association

The P.T.A. committee currently consists of 13 parents and 2 members of the teaching staff. The Annual General Meeting is held at the beginning of the Autumn term each year when committee members are elected. You can join the committee as a general helper or stand for a position e.g. chairman, treasurer or secretary. In addition, help is always very much welcomed at the various events organised by the P.T.A. committee.

We meet at intervals throughout the school year, normally once every 6 weeks,  to discuss ways in which we, together with parents, can raise funds to provide some of the ‘extras’ that the school would not normally be able to fund.

We have recently contributed towards paying for new playground markings and a new adventure playground, and future projects will include buying picnic tables for the playground and continuing to fund the final update to the ICT suite. In addition we also help subsidise our children’s Christmas entertainment by funding the cost of theatre visits to the school.

Over the past year we have run several events and been on hand to provide teas and coffees at various functions. The main events of the year were our Christmas, Easter and Summer Fayres, but we have also arranged other social events that we can all enjoy, such as a very popular Fish and Chip Quiz night and a family Beetle Drive.

We try to keep parents informed of all our activities with a regular newsletter and welcome suggestions from parents as to events they might like us to run.
