In a normal school week Key Stage 2 children are taught for 23 hours and 45 minutes. This does not include assembly and break times.
Please send your child to school on time. The children line up at 8.45a.m. and Registration takes place immediately on entering school. Parents are reminded that children should not arrive at school before 8.30a.m. as there is no supervision or insurance cover. Lateness will be recorded in the class register and on the child’s report.
Attendance
If your child is unable to attend school a letter should be sent to the Headteacher or Class Teacher explaining the nature of the absence. All absences should be accounted for before 9.00 a.m. No explanation or an unsatisfactory explanation may result in it being recorded as "unauthorised" i.e. truancy. If you wish your child to leave the school for any reason during the school day, you must come to the school office to collect him or her.
Children are expected to attend school on 190 days in the school year, i.e. September to August, and as far as possible holidays should be planned to coincide with school holidays. In exceptional circumstances a maximum of two weeks may be granted in any calendar year, i.e. January to December, by filling in a holiday request form. For the benefit of your child’s education, we do not authorise holiday absences or time out of school other than for medical reasons during the critical times of September (start of the school year when systems and routines are being established) and April and May when whole school preparation and assessments are taking place.
Please see Attendance Policy for further details.
