Federation PSHE Curriculum

Ethos and Mindset
At Prestbury St. Mary’s, the Personal, Social and Health Education curriculum (PSHE) is not just centred on classroom lessons based on a scheme. We believe that PSHE education permeates all areas of school life, both inside and outside of the classroom. This can be during lesson time, outdoor activities, break and lunch times and the children’s home lives.
The curriculum aims to educate children about all aspects of themselves and others. We want the children to feel equipped to understand the way that their own mind and body works and their place in the world. We also want them to have an understanding of their relationships with others, how people can differ and wider issues, such as safety and children’s rights.
Our PSHE curriculum perfectly supports our school vision of ‘developing remarkable people’. We want the children to leave us feeling prepared with self-awareness, self-belief and mindfulness of the people and the world around them. We want them to have the skills to support themselves and others in the big, wide world and to cope with feelings, challenges and situations that they may face in the future, enabling them to be truly ‘remarkable’ on whatever path they may choose. This curriculum and our PSHE lessons also support the Christian ethos of our school: “For we are God’s masterpiece, created in Christ to do good things.” (Ephesians 2:10).
